Full Profile
Hailing from Hackney, East London, pianist Jesse Doniach is quickly emerging as one of the bright young voices in London’s vibrant jazz scene.
Inspired to pursue music as a teenager by double bassist Paul Moylan and fuelled by an early captivation with Thelonious Monk’s music, Jesse went on to secure a place at the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London. Under the mentorship of Liam Noble and Hans Koller, he graduated with first-class honours in 2021.
During this time, he spent a year at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he had the opportunity to study with renowned artists Aaron Parks and Kurt Rosenwinkel and to perform at La Gare Jazz Club. At just 26, Jesse has already accumulated a breadth of performing experience, both in the UK and internationally.
This includes performing at venues such as the Vortex jazz club, Electric Brixton, Milos Jazz festival in Greece and most notably the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in 2023. He has performed alongside notable musicians such as Byron Wallen, Rachel Cohen, Jasmine Myra and Cosmo Pyke.
In addition, Jesse has hosted multiple residencies across London. With the help of rising stars Jordan Hadfield (drums) and Menelik Claffey (bass), his trio seeks to provide a fresh take on the classic format, exploring a mixture of original material and arrangements.
